The Fruitcake Syndrome|An Anatomy of One’s Gender

No, I am not a doctor, not even a Ph.D. to be honest, but I have to discuss this syndrome, a disease rather. I have to, or else I will lose my sanity in this age of technological advancements and emotional degradation, in a seemingly screwed up world.

Since the beginning of time, man has wondered where he comes from; he has looked up to the sky and thought about his place and purpose in the cosmos, in this planet, and in his skin. Man is a sentient being, from what I have been told by the books that I studied, from the practical experiments that I was involved in, the power of reasoning that I hold, and from the study materials that were published by the people who took the initiative to decide for us what our brains needed to be fed. Man’s sentience has been always portrayed in such a manner that there is no other option but to comply with the facts that have been laid throughout history.
Philosophy says that human reason is an unparalleled tool to look at the world with, and some have even claimed our sentience to be divine.
Well, being an atheist, I would beg to differ on the divinity of it, but this is not about me, this is about the syndrome that I was going to talk about, a disease rather, but before that let me talk a little more about sentience.

Men who have used empirical methods to understand the profundity of human reasoning also have come to conclusions that human reasoning is hitherto, unparalleled. Take a moment to look at us as a species, on top of the food chain, practically dictating over the planet, killing it in the process of blatantly flaunting the supremacy of man, which no one else challenges unless a man goes to a jungle in his birthday suit and challenges a Lion.
The hierarchy of the planet, taking sentience into consideration, sees a man at the top of the ladder, and rightly so, man is the only creature that can reason with his own thoughts, can scrutinize and manipulate the thoughts and shape them into an outcome, man is indeed on the top of the ladder. Man’s reasoning and intellect is what has brought our species to where we are now, more knowledgeable, more resourceful, and more innovative; we are also more evil, more greedy, and more ignorant towards what we think are lesser forms of lives, be it a fungus, or be it a tree, be it a fly, or be it an eagle, be it a worm, or be it a whale. A man has put himself on top of this ladder and has deemed himself to be superior to every other entity on this planet.

WAIT!
Let us back up a little here, “man has wondered”?; “man is a sentient being”?
Who gave anyone the authority to make this sex the representative of an entire species? I would gladly send a woman to negotiate with the aliens if in the faintest of minute possibilities they arrive with the intention to invade. Have you seen your local women bargaining at your local bazaars?
There are generally two sexes in the human species; Men and Women. I am not getting into the meticulous details of how this is so because genetically speaking, taking into consideration the Xs and Ys in the chromosomes that make us who we are, there are fundamentally two kinds of sexes, male and female, according to nature’s breeding requirements.

Now, assigned sex or biological sex is the label a person is given at birth, considering one’s hormones, chromosomes, and genitals. The factors that determine our assigned sex begin as early as fertilization. Most people are assigned male or female, and this is what’s put on their birth certificates. A person with XX chromosomes usually has female sex and reproductive organs and is therefore usually assigned biologically female. A person with XY chromosomes usually has male sex and reproductive organs and is therefore usually assigned biologically male. When someone’s sexual and reproductive anatomy doesn’t seem to fit the typical definitions of female or male, they may be described as intersex.

There are many different intersex variations. Some intersex people have ambiguous genitalia or internal sex organs, such as a person with both ovarian and testicular tissues. Other intersex people have a combination of chromosomes that is different than XY (male) and XX (female), like XXY. And some people are born with what looks like totally male or totally female genitals, but their internal organs or hormones released during puberty don’t match.

One would now ask what gender is then, but we will get to that, what we are here to really talk about is the disease, a syndrome, I call it “The Fruitcake Syndrome” as I have already established in the first line of this write up that I am no doctor, not even a Ph.D. for that matter, but I have come up with this term after observing countless people being debilitated due to this seeming epidemic.

What is The Fruitcake Syndrome?

There are a lot of things that the general public does not understand about gender and sex, sex is something that is biologically assigned, it is in the domain of black or white, male or female, which has been discussed above, assigned sex is easy to understand, either you have a penis or you have a vagina, and that is that. When it comes to gender, things get a little gray, gender is an ambiguous term.

Gender is much bigger and more complicated than assigned sex. Gender includes gender roles, which are expectations society and people have about behaviors, thoughts, and characteristics that go along with a person’s assigned sex. For example, ideas about how men and women are expected to behave, dress, and communicate all contribute to gender. Gender is also a social and legal status as girls and boys, men, and women. It is normal and easy for people to confuse gender and sex, but to broaden it and make it easier to understand and remember, sex is about the biology, about anatomy, and chromosomes, whereas gender is society’s set of expectations, standards, and characteristics about how men and women are supposed to act. Here is where The Fruitcake Syndrome comes out into the picture, when it comes to gender; there is a substantially high number of people who do not identify as the gender they are assigned by the society, the sex that they are assigned is the same but not their gender, this causes gender dysphoria, which is a significant stress produced by the conflict inside a person when the person’s assigned birth gender does not match with the one that they identify with. This identity inside someone is known as gender identity, it is one’s innermost feeling and identification of whether they are male or female, one’s gender identity might be the same as their assigned birth gender or it might be different, it can be seen in their gender expression, the way one dresses, behaves, and carries out daily routines, one’s feelings about one’s gender identity can start from the age of 2-3 years.

Some people’s assigned sex and gender identity are pretty much the same, or in line with each other. These people are called cisgender. Other people feel that their assigned sex is of the other gender from their gender identity (i.e., assigned sex is female, but gender identity is male). These people are called transgender or trans. Not all transgender people share the same exact identity, therefore, transgender people may identify as straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, etc. Being transgender does not imply any specific sexual orientation.

Sexual orientation is categorized and defined by the person one dates, loves, sleeps with, is attracted to, etc, it is the inherent feeling involving romantic or sexual attraction to other people.

Sexuality, on the other hand, is way more vast and complex than sexual orientation, it is defined by what one enjoys, or desires intimately and sexually. Things that get one aroused is a part of one’s sexuality, it involves physical, spiritual, biological, erotic, emotional, and sexual attraction. Some girls do not enjoy penetration even if they are heterosexual.

One’s sexuality is a complex term and the idea of one’s identification on what sexuality one has inside gets matured as the person matures themselves, it is an extremely complicated thing. Sexuality and sexual orientation may cross paths sometimes in a person as they embark on the journey of discovering their true, spectacular selves.
There are different ways in which a person can feel sexually attracted, some people are attracted to other genders, some people are attracted to others of the same gender, some are attracted to objects, some are attracted to themselves, some to intelligence, some to emotions, some who are neither attracted to any of these nor to themselves.
As we can see that sexuality is a broad and confusing term, and labeling sexuality is often considered as walking on a rope above a fiery pit and as one walks down that rope the pit below them turns from fire to spikes to molten lava to a pool of hungry sharks and what not.
Nevertheless, these labels can help people identify and navigate the way they feel and understand their sexuality and sexual orientation.

Here is a list of sexualities that can also be used to define one’s sexual orientation, taking into consideration that the two are completely different terms, which is different from romantic attraction altogether. (I know, this is as confusing as it can get) :

MONOSEXUALS(HETEROSEXUALS AND HOMOSEXUALS): As one can see by the term mono which means, one might put together the fact that monosexuals are people who get attracted to one gender, they can be heterosexuals(attracted to the opposite sex), or homosexuals(attracted the same sex).

BISEXUALS: Bisexuals are the people who get attracted to people from both the genders.

PANSEXUALS: Pansexuality is the most prominent and common of sexualities and orientations, believe it or not, it is the most fluid, pansexuals are the people who are attracted to any gender identity or any sexual orientations.

AUTOSEXUALS: Autosexuals are the people who get attracted to themselves and prefer to have sex with themselves, if one is more inclined with masturbating rather than having sex with someone else, one can be considered an autosexual.

ASEXUALS: Asexuals are people who do not feel any type of sexual attraction at all; however, they are capable of having romantic attraction and are fully equipped to be in a steady and healthy romantic relationship.

DEMISEXUALS: These are the people who do not feel any sexual attraction until and unless they feel and find a romantic connection.

OMNISEXUALS: These are the people who are sexually attracted to everyone regardless of the gender, this is different then pansexuality because omnisexuals are not gender blind like pansexuals.

SKOLIKSEXUALS: These are the people who do not get attracted to cisgender people and are instead more inclined towards non-binary, or transgender people.

There are many more to go, and there are so many sexualities that it is hard for one to cover all of them, and I, not being a doctor, or even a Ph.D., am less than capable to be covering this humongous topic of sex, gender identity, sexuality and sexual orientation. Nevertheless, I have done what I could to educate you on what gender, sex, sexuality, and sexual orientation is about, and how vast it is so you can educate those who have been oblivious hitherto, besides, I am here to talk about The Fruitcake Syndrome.

Before I get to the real deal, here is a link to the list of derogatory terms for transgender people, please make sure you go through it:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LGBT_slang_terms

You must be wondering why I have asked you to go through the terms here; the purpose is to make you fully understand why it is necessary to know these terms in order to properly perceive The Fruitcake Syndrome.

Finally, getting into the explanation, the fruitcake syndrome, which is a term I made up, is the inability of a person to comprehend the idea that whatever romantic or sexual preferences another person might have, there should not be any kind of stigmatization against those who have any other way of expressing themselves, that the person with the inability deems unconventional according to a dogma. It is the neanderthalic cerebration of a diseased person (a person diseased with The Fruitcake Syndrome), that it is taboo for people to do what they see fit, pertaining to their preferences and their inner workings.

Who is anyone to decide what is right and what is wrong?
Why is there still so much bullying against people who are already struggling to find out who they really are and what they like?

If a guy likes a dick up his ass, or if a girl likes to kiss another girl’s clitoris, or if a guy likes to dress like a girl, or if a girl likes to build muscles, or if a guy likes to apply makeup, or if a guy likes to kiss a guy or a girl or anyone, it is not your business to hold a wooden hammer and then sentence them to disgrace, what is disgraceful is that you not being able to realize the fact that you have no right to tell people how to live their lives, because in this short span of time that we get to spend in this world we are no one to tell anyone how to find their true selves in this passing. We are but tiny blips in the course of history, and if we go about calling someone ladies bhai, gents baini, sword fighter, chatney keti, backdoor bata chirney, etc, where does that leave us normal people?

Normal is a term made up by people who are afraid of exploration, of understanding, or at least an effort towards attaining it, just like sentience was a term made up by the people who were too afraid to discover or at least make an effort to explore intelligence elsewhere.

Normal is the term used by homophobes and it is just the materialization of the prejudice, aversion, antipathy, hatred, and contempt that arises due to the lesser understanding, or lack of effort to understanding what gender identity, sexuality, and sexual orientation actually are and how it works.

Homophobes are mainly the ones, who have been affected by The Fruitcake Syndrome, and this write up is basically a remedy to the disease, I hope you (if you are one carrying this disease) get better. So the next time you see a transgender person coming your way, you are not prejudiced, or scared, or a fucking jerk about it.
(Straight)Guys, if you cross path with a gay man and he seems to be interested in talking to you, fucking talk to them, it is not that they’re going to grab you by the penis and take you to a workshop where gay people are made, it doesn’t work like that, it is utterly stupid to think that homosexuality is a choice.
(Straight)Girls, if you bump into a lesbian woman and she seems interested in talking to you, talk to them, they don’t bite, and who knows maybe you’ll learn a few new things.

It is astonishing how people are so okay with rapes of any kinds, female feticide, child marriages, religious killings, but there is an equal intolerance towards transgender people. As I said, this is a disease.

The definition of a disease as per the dictionary is, a particular quality or disposition regarded as adversely affecting a person or a group of people.

GET WELL SOON!

From the author- Consider this write up a cure and a vaccination against this disease, and I hope this was educational and not too offensive. If you have this syndrome, please do more extensive research on understanding sexuality, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
If you have anything to rectify or add or anything that you’d like to share, please leave your thoughts in the comment section.
